UCM Takes Over Cal Pac Championship
UC Merced turned in a dominating performance at the California Pacific Conference Championship at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. The Bobcats, who received votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, produced the top seven finishers in the 6k event, led by senior Elizette Ysais, who clocked a 23:32 to take home medalist honors. This will UCM's first team appearance at the NAIA National Championship, which takes place at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo., on Friday, Nov. 22, but it is not the first time two of the Bobcats have qualified for the season finale. Ysais, who has recorded five of the top 10 times in the Cal Pac this season, will make her fifth consecutive appearance, and Jaydah Aguilar will be making her second straight appearance in the national race.
Four individuals will join UCM at the NAIA National Championships later this month. Soka's Yuko Hashimoto and Naylah Santos, Simpson's Joy Taylor, and La Sierra's Alyssa Rangel all finished in the top 15 to qualify for the upcoming meet.
