2023-24 ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA® WOMEN’S AT-LARGE TEAMS

2023-24 ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA® WOMEN’S AT-LARGE TEAMS

Saint Katherine's Katie Alexander was selected to the Academic All-America® Second Team today by College Sports Communicators (CSC).  Alexander, a junior blocker on the beach volleyball team, becomes the only USK student-athlete to ever be named an Academic All-American.

Alexander was previously named to the Academic All-District team in June, an honor given to student-athletes that are at least a sophomore, have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and played in 70% of their team's matches. She was then selected for Academic All-American consideration, with final recipients chosen by a nationwide vote of sports information directors.

A native of Joshua Tree, Calif., Alexander is an English major with a 4.00 GPA. She joined the Firebird program in 2024 season after her junior college career at College of the Desert.

She also earned First Team All-Conference honors for her athletic performance this season and was on USK's President's List for her accomplishments in the classroom. She helped beach volleyball qualify for the NAIA Invitational for the first time, where she competed in the 2's position with teammate Natalie Hill. As a team, the Firebirds finished with a program-best 14 wins, won a California Pacific Conference championship and ended the season ranked No. 6 nationally.

CSC selects Academic All-America teams by sport and gender, with beach volleyball included in the at-large division alongside bowling, competitive cheer, competitive dance, golf, lacrosse and wrestling. Only 0.3% of all female NCAA, NAIA and junior college student-athletes in the at-large division were named All-Americans. More information about the award is available at academicallamerica.com.

Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions.

CSC began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored more than 40,000 deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.
