Cal Pac Names Players of the Week for Feb. 19

The following California Pacific Conference student-athletes have been recognized as the conference Players of the Week for their performances during the period of Feb. 12-18:

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Nicole Lukito of UC Merced averaged 13.5 points and 17.5 rebounds per game in two crucial wins over Park Gilbert and Benedictine Mesa.  The freshman forward from Fremont, Calif., shot .588 from the field to help the Bobcats to two key wins.  She had 22 rebounds, 10 points, and three blocks against Park before going for 17 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks against BENU.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Xavier Cooper of Saint Katherine turned in two impressive performances in a pair of Firebird victories.  The grad student from Denver, Colo., had 10 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists against La Sierra to record the first triple-double in USK history, and only the fourth in Cal Pac history. Then he produced a double-double at Embry-Riddle to mark fifth consecutive game with a double-double.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Attacker of the Week

UC Merced's Ryan Kilgore had 12 kills and two blocks in back-to-back four-set matches against Hope International and No. 8 Menlo on Friday.  The senior outside hitter from Jurupa Valley, Calif., added a career-high three service aces in the win against HIU and had a .310 hitting percentage against Menlo.

Setter of the Week

Isaac Laing of Saint Katherine guided the Firebird offense against Hope International, (RV) Arizona Christian, and No. 6 Ottawa (Ariz.).  In three matches, the junior from La Mesa, Calif., handed out 68 assists, an average of 6.8 per set, and contributed four kills, three service aces, 22 digs, and was in on three blocks.

Defender of the Week

Simpson's Jean-Paul James played a key role in the Red Hawks' split of two matches at the Oak Invitational.  The sophomore middle blocker from Elk Grove, Calif., finished the two matches with nine blocks, three digs, and he also chipped in nine kills while hitting .389.
