
Cal Pac Announces Players of the Week for Dec. 16
The following California Pacific Conference student-athletes have been recognized as the conference Players of the Week for their performances during the period of Dec. 9-15:
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Offensive Player of the Week
La Sierra's Anthony Montoya turned in strong performances in the Golden Eagles' two games against NCAA DI teams last week. The junior guard from Chico, Calif., totaled 19 points in the two contests, connecting on 5-of-10 shots from beyond the arc and all four of his free throws. He also added five assists and picked up three steals in the two losses.

Defensive Player of the Week
Austin Dewes of UC Merced rejected a career-high four shots against NCAA DII opponent CSU Monterey Bay last Thursday, becoming just the fifth-ever Bobcat to block four shots in a game. He also grabbed three rebounds. The sophomore forward from Martinez, Calif., currently leads the Cal Pac with eleven blocked shots on the year.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Offensive Player of the Week
Breonna Martinez of La Sierra made two free throws with 21 seconds left to give the Golden Eagles a one-point advantage, and that proved to be enough to earn them a 46-45 victory over host Life Pacific. The junior guard Rialto, Calif., finished with 10 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the victory.

Defensive Player of the Week
Westcliff's Jayla Reliford garners her second straight defensive honor after her performance in last week's one-point loss to Caltech. The senior guard from New Hope, Minn., pulled in four rebounds and pestered opponents with four steals in the Warriors' stellar defensive effort.
